The Oscars

by Fluffleberry on March 2, 2011

Ahhh, the Oscars. I love em, and you wanna know why? Because it is pure, unadulterated nonsense! And as you know I fully support anything suitably nonsensical.

The whole world watches on as one industry get together, walk down a red carpet on the street and congregate in a cinema to congratulate themselves with little golden figurines. And well they might! And the dress code for all of this ridiculousness? Why it’s black tie and ball gowns! Fantastic!

My highlights were…

1. An Oscar for Christian Bale for his supporting role in The Fighter. At last this uber talent is recognised. I loved the Fighter and enjoy all of his work. He’s totally nuts, but that’s how I like em!

I kinda wish he wasn’t hiding his lovely face with the big bushy beard (not a good look) but I forgive him because his mother says he grows his hair and beard between roles in case the next one requires it. A man of such discipline, sigh…

And now for the fashion….

2. The very best dress of the evening. In my opinion it was the breath taking Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Couture. A vision of lavender loveliness.

She is insanely gorgeous. Her hair and make up so flattering and her jewellery just enough. This dress is so intricate and beautiful but it’s overall effect is subtle, enhancing the beauty of the wearer. Most importantly for me though is the colour feels really fresh.

3. The closest runner up in the fashion stakes. Gwyneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein.

I can’t get enough of Calvin Klein’s clean aesthetic and this Grecian style beauty is simple yet satisfying. I love the way the light bounces off the material and the lack of jewellery (do not attempt to accessorise something that’s beauty is in it’s simplicity), but I’m not sure about the hair? It’s a yawn shade of blond and would have looked better as a clean pony tail?
