The Perfect Christmas Stocking

by Fluffleberry on November 20, 2011

It’s time to start collecting little pressies for the fabulous lady in your life. I’ll let you into all my tried and tested secrets and a few far flung fantasies to compile the ultimate stocking. She’ll be so impressed with Father Christmas this year!

Of all the at home face masks I’ve tried this is my very favourite. It’s the Bliss Triple Oxygen Energizing Mask which works in just 5 minutes to deliver oxygen and vitamins to the skin. So easy to use in the shower every day and it really does make your skin look lighter and brighter.

My next Christmas must is my favourite bath and shower oil. This Works is an amazing range and their Deep Calm Bath and Shower Oil has been a staple of mine for years. It’s blend of flowers such as lavender and camomile not only smells divine but is one of the few relaxing bath oils that actually does help me unwind.

Another little treasure to slip into her stocking is Lancome’s Precious Cells Mascara in black. It’s a beauty classic that all women should carry in their make up bag.

Add a splash of colour. Not all women wear eye shadow but I always associate it with exciting evenings and glamorous parties and a little bit of sparkle always feels Christmasy. This season I recommend you buy eye shadow in shades of blue. May I suggest the eye shadow palette in Smoky Navy by Dior.

Or, the possibly the most beautiful eye shadow palette ever created, the Nars palette in Arabian Nights.

Now in terms of perfume most women have their personal favourites, so it’s probably best if you pay close attention to your beloved’s morning rituals. My signature scent is Allure by Chanel (eau de parfum not eau de toilette, don’t be cheap!) and I believe that all women should have a signature scent. Allure is the only perfume I have received complements for, from friends to taxi drivers, this perfume seems to work for me and the people around me. It is a Chanel classic, feminine without being sweet, grown up but not as grown up as No. 5, deep and fresh all at the same time. I’ve been wearing it since it was given to me for Christmas by my mother way back in 2002 so who knows, get it right this year and she’ll remember you for introducing her to her forever perfume?

If this is not your cup of tea, I’d head to Tom Ford and choose from a range of beautiful fragrances, after all it is you that will enjoy it day after day! You can’t go wrong with Tom Ford, the man has immaculate taste.

Now it’s time for little trinkets she’ll adore! Our first port of call is a trip to Laurence Coste, 109 Walton Street, London. My beautiful friend Pixie introduced me to this little treasure trove of truly original jewellery. I adore the chunky gold chains and these hoop earrings which are re-worked with different coloured semi precious stones every time I pop in.

I adore these jade hoops I bought in the summer. Every woman’s stocking is just crying out for Laurence Coste.

Now for something sweet. How about my old favourite the Artisan du Chocolat. A box of 12 couture chocolates is the perfect size for ladies who love couture. The flavours are divine and they make a very decorative pressie.

If however you do not like the element of surprise, go for the Artisan du Chocolat’s most famous chocolates of all. The salted caramels.

The Artisan also have lots of Christmas themed chocolate treats, so you can also buy the salted caramel balls infused with spices and figs and if you’d like some other sweet Christmas treats they won’t disappoint. My personal faves have to be the couture Christmas pudding box…

…the ginger bread cookie flavoured white chocolate bar, the praline pine cones and the chocolate brandy butter! Yummy yum yum! What woman could resist?

Now, in my perfect stocking fantasy there is always space for shoes. I see the perfect stocking shoes as being pumps that will easily fit in amongst the other treasures and will be eternally useful. The pumps I would most like to discover in my stocking this year are these leopard lovelies by Tory Burch.

Next up on my wish list would be a leather note book from Smythson, London. They come in all sorts of colours, shapes and sizes but I adore the fun messages on the smaller books. My recommendations for this stocking would be the beautiful blue “Fashion Fever” book or the “Runway Notes” book. Chic and useful too.

My mother has always said that “softness makes a big difference to life” and what better time to enjoy cashmere than mid winter. Feast your eyes on these William Sharp cashmere and crystal slippers. So beautiful…

…or follow my lead this winter and purchase the Alexander Wang cashmere beanie. I bought it at the end of the summer and have been wearing it since the first chill of Autumn. It’s extremely soft and comforting…but if you can’t afford those mum says that The White Company cashmere socks are some of the most snuggly out there and she asks for them year after year so they will always go down a treat.

Finally, put it in the bottom of the stocking and create a lovely winter perfume and finishing touch with a candle from Jo Malone. I always assosciate Jo Malone with Christmas as you can’t go wrong with her deliscious fragrances. Set the mood with something warming and Christmasy such as the roasted chestnut candle.
